
Born in 1998 in Borås, Sweden, Isak Ingvarsson began playing the saxophone at an early age. A graduate of Jazz Institut Berlin with a Bachelor of Music, he is currently completing his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the City College of New York, USA where he’s being mentored by Tim Berne.
Ingvarsson has performed extensively across Europe, collaborating with renowned artists such as Per “Texas” Johansson, Michala Nielsen-Østergaard, Fredrik Ljungkvist and Gilbert Holmström among others.
As a composer and performer, Ingvarsson’s music embodies raw emotion, drawing inspiration from jazz, minimalism, and the avant-garde. His work is both provocative and soothing, evoking a sense of yearning while immersing listeners in a richly textured soundscape.
His accolades include the Royal Music Academy Scholarship (2017) and recognition with the Swedish Jazz Final award at the Blue House in Stockholm (2019) as part of the Cosmic Express Quintet. He received the Phonogram scholarship twice as a sideman and once as a leader.
In 2025, Ingvarsson is set to release his debut album, The Calling, featuring acclaimed jazz legend Kresten Osgood (dr) and Johan Graden (pi).
